Anantnag/Dec,16:Deputy Commissioner Anantnag on Saturday ordered an inquiry into the thrashing of a teacher allegedly by Sub District Magistrate (SDM) two days before.
As per an order, issued by the Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Syed Shabir Ahmad has been appointed as enquiry officer to enquire into the matter “that has led to an ugly turn of events in the SDM office Kokernag on Thursday.
“The enquiry officer will complete the enquiry and shall submit the report to deputy commissioner Anantnag within a period of 10 days for initiating further action in the matter,” reads the order.
Earlier in the day, scores of teachers protested outside the DC office in Anantnag to demand action against the SDM Kokernag.
The protesters alleged that the teacher was manhandled, cursed, abused and thrashed by the SDM and his subordinates over an issue in delivering his duties as BLO.
The order for enquiry also comes after the Education Minister Syed Altaf Bukhari assured to take up the issue of beating of the teacher with the chief secretary.
