Udhampur: Motor Vehicles Department (MVD), organised an awareness cum counselling camp on road safety for Commercial Vehicle Drivers, here Friday.
District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Ravinder Kumar was the chief guest while Senior Superintendent of Police, Rayees Bhat was the guest of honour on the occasion.
200 drivers from Udhampur, Ramnagar, Majalta, Chenani and other different routes of Udhampur participated in the camp.
Speaking on the occasion, District Development Commissioner stressed upon the participants to follow the traffic rules and regulations and avoid over speeding, racing, rash driving and use of mobile phone while driving.
While responding to projected demands by Transport Union, the DDC assured that their genuine issues would be redressed on priority and objective of such awareness camps is to minimize road accidents and traffic congestion.
During the camp, SSP asked the drivers to follow traffic rules and wear helmet and seat belt while driving to avoid mishaps
ARTO, Kuldeep Singh informed that similar camps would also be organised at block level to sensitize the drivers about road safety.
Among others, CEO MC, Santosh Kotwal, Dy. SP Traffic Dinesh Gupta, Station House Officer, Sanjeev Gupta, officers/officials of concerned departments, representatives of Transport Unions, staff members, drivers and conductors attended the camp.
