Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Molvi Umar Farooq on Thursday in a tweet said that Kashmir welcomes the decision of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation (OIC) recognizing East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.
“Kashmir welcomes the decision of OIC countries to declare East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine,” tweeted Mirwaiz. He called on the United Nations to end the Isareli occupation of Palestine.
“Sovereign Palestinian homeland with #AlQudsAlSharief as its capital the only solution acceptable to the Ummah, UN needs to act to end Israeli occupation of Palestine,” said Mirwaiz, in his tweet.Leaders from the world’s main pan-Islamic body on Wednesday urged the international community to recognise East Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital after US President Donald Trump declared Jerusalem to be the capital of Israel.
The emergency summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul said it declared “East Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Palestine” and invited “all countries to recognise the State of Palestine and East Jerusalem as its occupied capital,” according to the final statement.
