Guv summons Joint Session of Legislature

Jammu: Governor N. N. Vohra, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him under sub-section (1) of Section 53 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir, has summoned the State Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council to meet at Jammu on Tuesday, the 2nd January 2018, at 11:00 a.m. Secretary Legislative Assembly (LA) and Secretary Legislative Council (LC) have asked legislators to send their questions, bills and resolutions to assembly and council secretariats respectively before December 20.
The Governor has called upon the Members of the J&K Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council to assemble together in the Central Hall of the Legislature Building in the New Secretariat premises Jammu, on Tuesday, the 2nd day of January, 2018, at 11:00 A.M to hear his Address to both the Houses of the Legislature under the provision of Section 55(1) of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir.
After the said Address, each House of the Legislature will meet as a separate body at the time to be specified by the respective Presiding Officers. The Governor approved the State Government’s proposal in regard to this matter Wednesday.
The Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly has called upon all the members of the house to send not more than 10 starred and 10 un-starred questions in relaxation of Rule 32 of the Rules of procedure and conduct of Business in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly by or before 20 December 2017. The members have been asked to send not more than five Bills in relaxation of sub rule (3) of Rule 65 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly by or before 20 December 2017. The members have been further asked to send not more than four Resolutions in relaxation of Rule 174 of the Rules of procedure and Conduct of Business in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly by or before 20 December 2017.
Legislative Council has requested the Members of the House to send not more than 13 Starred and seven un-starred questions for the ensuing Budget Session 2018. As per a Bulletin issued by the Secretary LC, the members have been asked to send the questions by or before 22nd of December 2017, in relaxation of rule 33 and sub-rule (3) of rule 41 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council. The Members have also been requested not to send more than two Bills and two resolutions by or before December 22, 2017.
