Srinagar: Divisional Kashmir, Baseer Khan Tuesday reviewed the overall traffic scenario in Srinagar with particular reference to the widening of roads, completion of flyover, installation of signages, dedication of additional car parking slots and other issues.

The meeting was attended by DDC Srinagar, SMC commissioner, Director ERA, Chief Town Planner, SSP traffic, SE R&B and other officers. The Div Com directed the officials to remove all bottlenecks and illegal encroachments from the roads. He was informed that 22 structures have already been demolished on the Qamarwari road and further are being demolished voluntarily by the owners.

The Div Com directed the officials to advertise the additional parking slots so that people will benefit from them. The meeting was informed that the construction work on flyover is going on as per the timeline. The Div Com directed the officials to expedite the work on the grade separator near Radio Kashmir. He directed the DDC Srinagar to monitor the progress on all construction works and submit the report to him at earliest.

The Div Com also called for enforcing strict ban on the polythene of 50 Macron size and conduct inspections on daily basis. He said signages should be erected on all the roads for helping the commuters and drivers.

To further help the commuters entering the city the Div Com was informed that 350 passenger vehicles of different sizes are operating from Parimpora towards city. He said the vehicles should be checked whether they adhere to all rules and regulations and if the need arises more vehicles should be deputed. He also directed the officials to check whether adequate transport is plying from Panthachowk towards the city.
