Kavinder inspects progress on Kunjwani- Bishnah road, Bandurakh Bridge

Jammu: Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta Saturday inspected the progress on works undertaken to restore direct connectivity between Kunjwani and Bishnah via the Bandurakh Bridge.

The project is being executed by PWD(R&B) at an estimated cost of Rs 70 lakh and includes construction of the bridge as well as the approach roads.

During the visit, the Speaker was informed that the construction works on the 80 mtr span bridge has been completed while as the works on the approach roads is expected to be completed by March.

Pertinent to mention, Bandurakh Bridge on the Kunjwani-Bishnah road serves as a direct link between the two areas.

Kavinder Gupta while inspecting the quality of works directed the executing agency to ensure that the works being undertaken are in accordance with the set parameters and asked them to closely monitor the quality.

The Speaker said aim of the government is to provide civic amenities that are durable and built to last. He encouraged the public to actively participate in the development process and monitor the works being undertaken.

Later, the Speaker attended the annual day function of The Calliope School, Akhnoor at Abhinav theater, here Saturday.

Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma was also present on the occasion.

The students presented their talents with a variety of programs ranging from exhibition of dance, song to drama.

Speaking on the occasion, Kavinder Gupta said teachers and parents play a very important role in shaping a child’s life and their engagement can help children grow into confident, moral and socially aware adults.

The Speaker also emphasized on making students learn and experience various cultural facets of our state, various languages, arts, traditions and imbibing in them a deep cultural awareness besides love and respect for their heritage.

He appreciated the efforts of the students, teachers, management, and parents for presenting a colorful program filled with wonderful performances and inspiring enthusiasm.

The dignitaries also distributed prizes among the students excelling in academic as well as extracurricular activities.
