Dir Agri (J) visits agricultural fields, calls for adopting modern techniques of farming

Jammu: Director, Agriculture Hari Krishan Razdan Saturday visited agricultural fields in Badyal Brahmana, Dherian, Vikrama and adjoining areas of RS Pura to assess the condition of crops in these areas.

During the visit, the Director interacted with farmers and informed them about the benefits of cultivating high value vegetable crops particularly broccoli, red cabbage and cauliflower. He also visited the vegetable field of one progressive farmer, Dharam Paul who has raised green magic variety of Broccoli having high demand in the hotels.

The Director was shown the technique of sowing line sowing operations with seed-cum-fertilizer-drill at border village Vikrama under National Food Security Mission (NFSM).

He asked the farmers to diversify their farming through apiculture, mushroom, seed production, vegetable cultivation and adoption of latest agriculture technology and machinery.

Razdan directed the field staff to make all out efforts to complete all the targets fixed under Sub-Mission on Agriculture Machanization (SMAM), Soil Health Card Scheme (SHCS), Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFSBY) and Kissan Credit Card Scheme (KCCS) to achieve the higher sustainable level of agriculture production and yield per unit area.

He was accompanied by Joint Director, Agriculture Extension R.L Bhagat, Naresh Dubey, Chief Agriculture Officer, Mukesh Khajuria, SDAO, R.S Pura, Vinod Khajuria, SDAO Dansal, J. C. Raina, Program Officer, Jammu, S Jasbir Singh, AEO, Keerpind and other field functionaries including JAEOs and VAE.

Later, the Director also chaired a meeting to review the arrangements for Basmati Promotional Buyers-Sellers-Meet to be held at KVK, RS Pura on December 13.
