Srinagar: The Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Alta Bukhari Saturday inaugurated the divisional-level Chief Minister’s Super-50 Coaching Program at Government Girls’ High School Hyderpora here.

The tutorial program has been organized by Directorate of School Education in collaboration with NGOs Chinar International and AVANTI.

Speaking on the occasion, Bukhari said 1263 students have been selected for the coaching program on the basis of merit and screening test and they will be taught in 13 coaching centres across Kashmir division.

The Minister said all the arrangements including availability of experienced staff, heating and lighting systems have been put in place for the smooth conduct of the program. He further said the teachers of the coaching centres who will show the best result will be awarded.

On the occasion, MLA Batamaloo, Noor Mohammad Shah, Secretary School Education, Farooq Ahmad Shah, DC Srinagar, Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah, Director School Education Kashmir, Dr G.N Itoo, Special Project Director SSA, Abdul Rashid War, Chairman Private Schools Association, G.N Var, CEOs of various districts, Principals of various Higher Secondary Schools, representatives of Chinar International and AVANTI and other concerned officials of education department were present.

Commenting on the increasing menace of private coaching centres in the Valley, Altaf Bukhari said, “Private coaching centres have become money minting centres and there is need to do away with them.” He appealed the parents not to overburden their children by sending them to schools as well as coaching centres. “Parents should believe in us as we provide the quality education and have highly qualified teachers in our schools.”

He said mushrooming growth of private coaching centres is an insult to the school teachers. He said there are few students who need extra care and may need some more coaching but overall there is no need for private coaching for the students.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary School Education, Farooq Ahmad Shah announced that the result for the recently held Matric examinations shall be declared by December end.
