Mainstream politicians take pride in being the elected representative of the only the muslim majority state of the country but when it comes to the issues concerning the religious sentiments of the muslim umah the incumbent state government don’t bother to persuade the incumbent central government to side with the muslim countries raising concerns on the actions of western power against sovereign muslim state. Though the central government itself is obliged to take care of the religious emotions of muslim community which is the single largest minority and second largest majority of the country but unfortunately the incumbent central government headed by Narendra Modi has itself come in for sharp criticism from all quarters over the actions it has taken to hurt the religious sentiment of the muslim community during last three years of its rule in the country. Though Onus of responsibility to persuade the Modi government to condemn US President Donald Trump for announcing his country’s recognition to Jerusalem as the capital of Israel lies on Mehbooba Mufti as Chief Minister of the only muslim majority state of the country and ally of BJP in the state government but unfortunately Mehooba has not dares to even appeal Prime Minister Modi to condemn Donald Trump’s controversial and widely condemnable announcement on Jerusalem. Unfortunately Mehbooba Mufti does not bother to get an inspiration even from the statement of Hyderabad Member Parliament and President All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen Asaduddin Owaisi has urged the Modi government to strongly condemn the US president Donal Trump’s decision of extending recognition to Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Though Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that his country (India) is committed to “two state theory” on Palestine issue and keep the Indian embassy at Telavi not Jerusalem but he did not condemn the President Trumps widely condemnable announcement despite being the Prime Minister of a country where muslim community is the second largest minority and single largest majority religious community.

The reservations Modi government has shown in condemning the President Trump’s announcement on extending recognition to Jerusalem as capital of Israel is a shift in India’s policy on Palestine issues and as such Mehbooba Mufti as the Chief Minister of the only muslim majority state of the country is morally obliged to seek clarifications from Modi government on its policy over the issue of recognition to Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Like Owaisi Mehbooba as the Chief Minister of the only muslim majority state of the country could have urged the Prime Minister Modi to pronounce in unambiguous term the policy of his government on President Trump’s announcement of extending to Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. By all standards of understandabilities by saying that support to independent Palestine was the consistent policy of India, Prime Minister Modi and Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj can’t satisfy the religious ego of muslims in the muslim majority Jammu & Kashmir state and second largest muslim minority community in the rest of the country. Surprisingly Modi government has not bothered to say that Trump’s decision on recognition to Jerusalem as capital of Israel is the violation of international law and UN Security Council resolutions on Palestine.
