Tarigami discusses worsening power scenario in the valley with Dy. CM

Jammu: CPI(M) senior leader and MLA Kulgam Mr. Mohd Yousuf Tarigami Tuesday met with Dy. Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh who also holds the charge of PDD. He discussed the worsening power scenario in the valley especially in District Kulgam and demanded immediate response from the Govt. to overcome this grave and awesome situation.
He drew the attention of the Govt. for taking concrete steps to overcome the energy crises in the valley during the intense winter by arrange additional power supply from the Power Grid Corporation of India and also to make use of gas turbines. Expressing dismay over the deteriorating power supply, he suggested that the Govt. should focus on power generation and augmentation of transmission, distribution and receiving stations in the state.
Referring to the erotic and poor power supply in Kulgam Tarigami apprised the Minister that the Nillow and Yaripora receiving stations were heavily overloaded and there was imminent need for their up gradation and installation of more receiving stations in the District. The up gradation work of Kulgam receiving station proposed under PMDP be also completed at an earliest.
The Dy. Chief Minister assured him that grievances put forth shall be addresses seriously. Commissioner/Secretary Power Mr. Hirdesh Kumar was also present.
It may be reminded here that the committee on environment in its recent meeting under the chairmanship of Mr. Tarigami had summoned Development Commissioner Power and Chief Engineers of various wings of PDD to discuss the prevailing power scenario in the state and the measures afoot to improve it.
