Rajya Puraskar Award Ceremony of Bharat Scouts, Guides held at Raj Bhavan

Jammu: Governor N.N. Vohra, Patron of the J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides (S&G), presented Rajya Puraskars to 328 Scouts and Guides of the State at the Award Presentation Ceremony held at Raj Bhavan here Tuesday.

Usha Vohra, First Lady;  Naeem Akhter Andrabi, Minister for Public Works and President of the J&K (S&G),  Nirmal Kamal, Chairperson, State Social Welfare Board; S. Ravinder Singh, Director School Education Jammu and other dignitaries were presented Scout Scarves on the occasion.

The Governor congratulated the recipients of the Awards and wished them bright careers ahead. He lauded the valuable work being done by the functionaries of the J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides.

Governor observed that the essence of the Scouts and Guides movement is to imbue our youth with a sense of discipline, courage, confidence and compassion and enabling to grow up as citizens who also shall contribute to the maintenance of a balanced, harmonious and productive society.

Governor stressed the crucial importance of providing our youth a stimulating environment full of opportunities which is unhindered by any disruption of their academic and extracurricular schedules. He emphasized that youth must not be exploited or influenced by adverse factors which are detrimental to their advancement and future careers.

Governor announced financial support of Rs 7 lakh for conducting various activities of Scouts and Guides in the State and urged  Andrabi, Minister for PWD and President Bharat Scouts and Guides to help the J&K Chapter, in securing suitable premises for establishing its Training Centres at Jammu and Srinagar.

Governor felicitated young Rover leader,  Haroon Malik, who recently represented India in the Asia Pacific Program held in Sancheon, Asia Pacific Scout Centre, South Korea and underwent a 3 month course there.

Naeem Akhter highlighted the importance of the Scouts and Guides movement and assured all help to enable it to forge ahead.

Earlier, the Governor unfolded the Scouts and Guides Flag and the Scouts and Guides presented the Prayer and the Flag Song.

Roma Wani, Senior Vice-President, J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides, presented the Welcome Address.  I. D. Soni, State Commissioner, J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides; senior functionaries of the organization; and a large number of Scouts and Guides and their leaders were present at the function.
