Bandipora: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Bandipora celebrated ‘World Soil Day Tuesday by organizing a function here which was attended by a large number of farmers including women from various areas of the district.
Program coordinator KVK, M.H Samoon threw light on the theme “Soil Health Is a Prerequisite to Human Health” and stressed upon the farmers to play their role in helping protect the vital component of the natural system.
Dean faculty of Forestry SKUAST-K, Prof. Fayaz Ahmad Banday, who was the guest of honour, also spoke on the importance of the World Soil Day. He appreciated the efforts of KVK Bandipora for the betterment of farmers in the district.
A technical session was also held during which the experts from Directorate of extension SKUAST-K gave on spot instructions to the participants regarding various techniques for up-keeping the quality of soil in their fields.
About 365 soil health cards were distributed among the farmers on the occasion.
Officers from line Departments and scientists of KVK, who were present on the occasion, also spoke to the gathering.
