Srinagar: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh Wednesday asked the divisional administration, Kashmir to explore possibilities for rehabilitating street vendors of Batamaloo Bus stand.

The Deputy Chief Minister said government was keen to draft some productive plan for their rehabilitation. He asked the delegation of street vendors to cooperate with the administration and help them to work for the best of their interest.

In this regard, the Deputy Chief Minister convened a meeting of officers to redress various issues faced by the Batamaloo street vendors.

Besides other officials, the meeting was attended by the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Syed Abid Rashid Shah, officials of SMC, SDA and other departments.

During the meeting, the representatives from Himalayan Hawkers led by Shabir Ahmad and vendors from Batamaloo raised issues pertaining to their livelihood. They appealed government to go soft in rehabilitating them near Parimpora.

Pertinently, in order to decongest the summer capital, Srinagar, the government had ordered relocating of Batamaloo Bus Stand to Parimpora.
