Srinagar: The field executives of Legal Metrology Department in the city Srinagar conducted the inspection of various localities including Soura, Hazratbal, Lal Bazaar, Natipora, Chanapora, Bhagat, Rawalpora, etc and booked a number of erring traders for violation of Legal Metrology Laws.
The department had received a number of complaints against the bakers for keeping underweight Kashmiri local bread but none of the complaints was found genuine. The competent authority has fixed a price of Rs 5/= for 60-gram Chuchwaroo/Lawassa.
The baker has to mandatorily keep a weighing scale at shop premises with which a consumer can himself check the weight of Kashmiri breads. The Department, however, booked some bakers for not keeping the scale and a penal sum of about Rs5000/= was collected from such defaulters.
