Srinagar: In order create awareness about women’s rights and to get their issue redressed at workplace, a meeting was held Thursday at Agriculture Complex, Lalmandi Srinagar.
All women officers and officials of the Agriculture Department attended the meeting, which was chaired by ShaguftaAshai, Chairperson, Committee under Harassment of Women at Workplace.
While expressing her views chairperson highlighted the various provisions of “Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal Act-2013”, she said that the implementation of the said act at all the workplaces for women is need of the hour.
To address the various issues faced by women employees at their workplace she said the women employees working in the department should be apprised of the said committee and its mandate in the department and any women employee working in the department could approach the committee for the redressal of their grievances if any.
She said the issues would be addressed on the basis of enquiry and genuine grounds as per the Supreme Court ruling and other guidelines given by the Government of India under implementation of harassment of women at the workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal Act-2013).
While participating in the meeting as head of department Director Agriculture Kashmir, Syed Altaf Aijaz Andrabi said that in obedience to the Apex Court the Directorate here made a committee on October 2016 for the redressal of any issues confronting women employees at the workplace. He ensured the participants of the meeting and all the women employees in the department, every possible support for the redressal of issues if any faced by them. While speaking on the occasion different members of the committee expressed their views on the subject.
