Srinagar: In a bid to ensure maximum participation of people in the electoral process, an awareness program under Systematic Voter Education Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was Tuesday organized here at Girls Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Kothibagh.
The program was jointly organized by Nodal Officer SVEEP, Srinagar, Waseem Raja and District Administration Srinagar in collaboration with GHSS Kothibagh and was attended by a large gathering of students and teachers of the school.
ADC Srinagar, Purnima Mittal, ADC Srinagar, Vikas Kundal, Electoral Registration Officers including Syed Sajad Qadri and Hilal Ahmad Deewani, SVEEP representatives including Waseem Raja and Taufeeq Gazi, Principal GHSS Kothibagh, Romana Qazi and other concerned were present on the occasion.
During the program awareness regarding voter turnout, electoral registration was given to the participants.
While calling the students as the future of the nation, Purnima Mittal told the students that Indian constitution guarantees right to vote to all those having attained 18 years of age and asked them to cast their valuable vote in their respective polling stations to elect the representative of their own choice. She appealed the participants to disseminate this message to all.
On the occasion, participants were apprised about the importance of participation in the electoral process and the specials focus was given on the first-time voters who becoming eligible by attaining the age of 18 years. The participants were also apprised about the process of filling the form to get enrolled in the voter list.
