New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Monday took the custody of a Pakistani Lashkar-e-Taiba militant who authorities claimed was arrested along the Line of Control (LoC) in Handwara area of North Kashmir recently, officials here said.
The militants, identified as Mohammed Amir Awan, was as per the claims of the authorities, arrested by the Army on November 24 during an intensive search launched after an encounter in the area on November 21 that left three militants dead. One army man was also killed during the encounter.
The matter was transferred to the NIA which registered a case last Sunday and took the custody of the militant.
