Zulfkar takes stock of fisheries sector in Rajouri

Jammu: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) and Tribal Affairs, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali Friday directed fisheries department to explore the possibilities for harnessing the rich fish potential from water resources in district Rajouri.

The minister said this while chairing a joint meeting of officers of fisheries department and district administration Rajouri, convened to review present status of various developmental works taken up in the district to boost fisheries sector.

The meeting was also attended by DDC Rajouri, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Director Fisheries, RN Pandita, Director Tribal Affairs, Rafiq Ahmad, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Ab Qayoom Mir, Executive Engineer Rajouri, Sadeeq Ahmad Wani and other concerned Officers among others were present in the meeting.

The Minister was apprised that work on construction of Mini Hatchery is coming up at the cost of Rs 30 lakh at Rakiban in Darhal constituency. He was informed that Rs 15 lakh has been released for its completion. He directed the concerned officers to release the balance amount for its early completion so that people can avail benefits from it.

The Minister directed officers to complete the remodelling process of Phalni Survey Hut in time bound manner. Director fisheries informed the Minister that remodeling work on the Phalni hut coming up at an estimated cost of Rs 30.47lakh is going on. He said an amount of Rs 25 lakh has been incurred on the hut so far. The minister directed to make this hut a unique one in the area with elegant ceiling interior design and set 31st December 2017 deadline for its completion.

With regard to the macadamization of link roads at Phalni, the meeting was informed that an amount of Rs 41 lakh have been incurred on the road which should be macadamized shortly.

Minister directed the concerned officers of fisheries, R&B and district administration Rajouri to beautify the embankments of river Ans and shall be named it Ans Trout stream, because of having large potential of trout rearing.

Moreover, The Minister also directed the authorities to setup a unique amusement park at Kotranka for which an amount of Rs 20 lakh will be provided by the minister. Director Fisheries department was directed to send detailed specification to the District Development Commissioner Rajouri for its further action.
