Coop Deptt records Rs 48.48 cr turnover in Kmr divn, Rs 3.31cr from PCs

Srinagar: The Cooperative Department has registered a turnover of Rs 48.48 crore through its various business units in Kashmir division during the current fiscal so far, while as it has recovered an amount of Rs 3.31 crore from various stakeholders during the period.

This was disclosed in a meeting chaired by Secretary, cooperative Department, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, to review the physical and financial achievements registered in the Cooperative Sector in Kashmir Division.

Registrar, Cooperative Societies Kashmir MM Rehman Gasi, Deputy Registrars and District Audit Officers of Kashmir Division attended the meeting.

Giving details of the financial achievement, the meeting was informed that Cooperative Super Bazar has registered turnover of Rs 9.71 crores through their sale outlets in Kashmir Division. It was given out in the meeting that the Super Bazars are emerging as main attraction of the people where they are getting all daily use products including essential commodities under one roof on cheaper rates.

The meeting was informed that the Department has generated turnover of Rs 19.15 crore through its various Cooperative Societies while as the Primary Cooperative Societies run by the Department has earned an amount of Rs 19.62 crores in Kashmir Division so far.

While reviewing the recovery of the loans advanced to Poultry Cooperative Societies (PCS) it was stated in the meeting that under National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) recovery of an amount of Rs 1.35 crore was made while under Integrated Cooperative Development Project (ICDP) an amount of Rs 1.96 crore was recovered by the departmental agencies till date.

It was given out in the meeting that the Cooperative Department is running 19 Medical shops in various hospitals in the Division which remains open round the clock and each and every kind of medicines are being kept available on these shops for the benefits of the people. The meeting was informed that the Medical Shops are providing 5- 40 percent rebate on medicines and surgical items to the needy.

While reviewing the election process, it was informed in the meeting that 73 percent process for elections of the Cooperative Societies has been completed while as the election for remaining Cooperatives Societies are going on smoothly and will be completed during the current month. The election of the Cooperative Societies is required to restore and maintain the democratic character of the Cooperative institutions, the meeting was told.

Secretary directed all the Deputy Registrars to monitor the process personally and asked that where ever there is any problem regarding the matter, same may be taken up with the Registrar Cooperative Societies so that re – notification will be issued accordingly

The meeting was informed that 90 percent audit of the Cooperative Societies have been completed so far.

The Secretary stressed upon the Deputy Registrars to ensure that infrastructure of the department including the land and buildings be protected in such a way that no scrupulous persons should encroach it. He directed them to ensure that all the available land is properly fenced and buildings are renovated. He asked them to prepare detailed project reporters (DPRs) and submit them the administrative department so that the necessary funds are arranged accordingly.

For strengthening of Cooperatives sector in the state, the Secretary directed the Deputy Registrar to prepare the business development plan for the Cooperative Marketing Societies and other Cooperative Societies for diversification of their business so that matter will be taken up with government for release of required funds.
