Andrabi visits Hazratbal shrine, reviews Milad arrangements

Srinagar: Minister of State for Hajj and Auqaf, Syed Farooq Ahmad An­drabi Tuesday visited Hazratbal shrine to take firsthand appraisal of the arrangements put in place for upcoming Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW).

The Minister was accompanied by District Development Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah, officials from Waqaf Board, PHE, PDD, Irrigation and Flood Control, SMC, FCS&CA, Police besides the Hazratbal Shrine caretakers.

He directed all the departments to ensure all arrangements well in time to facilitate the devotees paying obeisance at the shrine and asked DDC Srinagar to monitor the arrangements during the holydays.

The Minister appreciated the administration for putting in place proper flooring and heating arrangements. He was informed that all the other necessary measures would be ensured for devotees so that they do not face any kind of inconvenience. He directed the PDD and PHE officials to provide uninterrupted electricity and water round-the-clock on festive days.

Andrabi also directed R&B officials to repair the road patch at Shrine premises.

The DDC Srinagar informed the Minister that additional water tankers would be kept available in the Shrine premises and more tankers will be provided if the need arises.

The Minister was also briefed that informed that the Health Department has also set up various medical camps with all the necessary healthcare facilities in and around the Shrine premises.

It was said an adequate number of special buses for women would ply from Lal Chowk to Hazratbal during these days besides the arrangement for late evening transportation has been put in place for facilitating devotees.
