3 militants killed in Handwara gunfight

Kupwara: On Tuesday morning, Government Forces killed three militants belonging to militant outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba in Magam Handwara area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district. Meanwhile an army man was killed and two other injured in an ongoing gunfight in Kupwara forests
After receiving specific information about the presence of the militants in Kharmohalla, a joint operation was conducted by the CRPF, J&K Police and the Indian Army.
“We started operations at midnight on specific information of terrorists hiding. Militants, who were hiding in a house, were asked to surrender but they kept firing. Three Pakistani LeT militants were killed, and arms and ammunition recovered,” IGP Kashmir Munir Khan said .
“Pakistan is trying hard to push as many militants as they can across LoC and anytime snowfall will start. So, this is the time we should be very alert,” Khan added.
Following the encounter, DGP J&K Police SP Vaid congratulated the security forces on Twitter.
Meanwhile an army man was killed and two others injured in an ongoing gunfight with militants in Zirhama area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday.

A police officer said that a joint team of of Army’s 23 Para commandos, 160 TA, SOG and CRPF Cordoned off the forest area in Gujarpati, Zurhama, following specific inputs about the presence of some militants in the area.
