Poonch: District Development Commissioner, Tariq Ahmad Zargar Monday called for putting in coordinated efforts for development and promotion of fisheries sector in the district. He was speaking at a function organized by the Department of Fisheries to create awareness about the schemes of the department.
DDC also distributed 20 by circles under blue revolution among identified farmers/ fisherman as logistic support to them, so that they can easily move from fish farms to market and sell fish in a hassle-free manner.
DDC said “BLUE REVOLUTION” scheme is aimed at recognizing the potential and possibilities in the fishing sector by unlocking latent potential to increase production three-fold and doubling the fisherman income by 2020.He asked the farmers to come forward and take benefit under the scheme by building fish pounds to increase carp or trout culture in the state by applying best innovative methods
AD fisheries B.A. Khan, extension officer Mohammad Aslam Khan, Fisheries Inspectors from Surankote and Poonch besides large number of farmers were present on the occasion.
