Bali inaugurates live operative workshop on Endometriosis

Srinagar: The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology of SKIMS Medical College & Hospital, Bemina Monday organised a CME (CSEP and a Live Operative Workshop) on Endometriosis demonstrating the live surgeries.

The workshop was inaugurated by Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Baghat, who was Chief Guest on the occasion. MLA Batamaloo, Noor Mohammad Sheikh, Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, Director SKIMS, Prof. A.G Ahanger, Vice Chairman, Selection Committee, SKIMS, Prof M.S Khuroo, Principals SKIMS Medical College and Hospital Bemina, Prof. Riyaz Ahmad Untoo, Dean Academics, SKIMS, Prof. Altaf Kirmani, Organizing Chairperson, ENDOCON 2017, Prof. Rifat Ara were also present on the occasion.

Experts from outside State which include Dr B.B Dash and Dr. Ajay Wakhloo demonstrated the live surgeries.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister stated that the Government has taken measures to strengthen the medical education and health care institutions of the State. He complimented the Principal, Dr. ReyazUntoo for his tireless efforts and putting the SKIMS Medical College on fast track development and assured full support from the Government for the development of SKIMS Medical College, Bemina.

Bhagat said it is his dream to see SKIMS Medical College as a top-notch College in the State. He said efforts are being put in to amalgamate the newly constructed 250-bedded Maternity & Child Care Hospital with SKIMS Medical College-Hospital, Bemina which will enhance its overall functioning.

On the occasion, MLA Batamaloo, Noor Mohammad Sheikh donated an ambulance to SKIMS Hospital Bemina from his constituency development fund.

In his address, he complimented the hospital administration who undertook the task of operating a large number of emergency patients referred from Government L. D. Hospital in May 2017 when fire broke out in there.

He assured full support for the amalgamation of newly constructed 250-bedded Maternity & Child Care Hospital with the SKIMS Medical College, Bemina.

The Organizing Chairperson of the Workshop, Prof. RifatAra, HOD Gynaecology & Obstetrics, SKIMS Medical College, Bemina explained the importance of the workshop and stated that such surgical procedures are being done in a few centres of the State.

Prof. M. S. Khuroo said the need of the hour to strengthen the institution by putting in collective efforts and creating better patient care services both in quality and quantity.

The Principal of the College, Dr. Reyaz Untoo, explained the measures taken for removal of the deficiencies pointed out by the MCI like faculty, staff and infrastructural deficiencies. Many faculty posts that got filled up through proper selection and more than hundreds of para-medical vacancies filled up through proper selection which resulted in the removal of deficiency pointed out by the MCI on account of faculty and other categories of staff.
