Public-Pvt Partnership key to robust cooperative movement: Dorjay

Jammu: In connection with the celebrations of 64th Cooperative week, the Cooperative Department organized a mega function at Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Ltd.(JAKFED) under theme Public, Private Cooperatives partnership.

Minister, for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs, Chering Dorjay while speaking during the function, said the theme about the function is apt for the cooperative movement as without consent of public-private partnership, cooperative is impossible.

He reiterated commitment of the Government towards working for a vibrant cooperative movement by one and all which, he said, will immensely help in ensuring a sustainable growth and development in the State.

Addressing to the people present on the occasion, Minister said the capital infusion of Cooperative banks has already taken up with the Finance Department as Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti is also taking very keen interest in recapitalization of these banks.

The Minister said the main aim to celebrate the cooperative week is to highlight the achievements of the cooperative sector and to educate people about the basics of cooperative movement. “Cooperative Week helped to raise awareness of the co-operative enterprise model, motivating people to join the co-operative movement,” he said.

On the occasion, the Minister said these events give an opportunity to reflect upon the shortfalls/weaknesses and also provides an opportunity to deliberate upon the strategies to strengthen the inclusive cooperative movement.

He emphasized for dedicated work and exploring the means for strengthening the cooperative sector which offers good opportunities of employment generation. He also put stress upon strengthen and revival of apex, primary, secondary and marketing societies which are defunct so that the cooperative movement may flouri

Secretary Cooperatives, Bashir Ahmad Bhat also spoke on the occasion and stated that the Cooperative being a trustworthy and voluntary organization, is folded into multiple sectors and it is doing a tremendous job by providing better services to people at their doorsteps through medium of Housing Corporation Board, Banking, JAKFED, Cooperative societies and other allied units.

He stressed upon the functionaries of JAKFED to utilize their potential for overall growth of cooperative sector besides to revive the cooperative movement to possible extent.

Registrar Cooperative, Peerzada Hafizullah Shah also spoke on the occasion and urged the officials of JAKFED to work with dedication and keep their activities at maximum to carry forward the mission of prosperity for each and all. He said JAKFED is an important platform of cooperative movement which is associated with other vital sectors.

Vice Chairman JAKFED, Munish Sharma, Managing Director JAKFED, Deepika, Chairman J&K Cooperative Union, besides senior officials of the JAKFED, Cooperative department and beneficiaries were also present.
