Distt Admin Rajouri mulls revamp of Coop network

Rajouri: District Development Commissioner, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, in a day-long workshop, impressed upon Co-operators of district Rajouri to adopt best practices of Cooperative sector run across the country to strengthen the financial position of Cooperative Institutions in the district. He asked them to go beyond traditional activities through innovative diversification and enhancement of their business activities for which district administration will provide necessary assistance.

He was addressing Cooperators of district Rajouri at an impressive function organized by the Cooperatives Department Rajouri to celebrate 64th National Cooperatives Week, 2017, here at Dak Bungalow Rajouri.

Assistant Commissioner Development, Noor Alam, Deputy Registrar Cooperatives, Waqar Talib, District Panchayat Officer, Akshay Rajan, District Information Officer, Mohammad Shafait, Assistant Director FCS&CA, Javaid Choudhary besides elected management of Cooperative Institutions and Cooperators attended the function.

Dr. Shahid stressed for linkages of Cooperative Institutions with different departments to involve them in implementation of various socio-economic developmental schemes to make them functional and financially sound. The managements of Cooperative Societies were asked to submit proposals for distribution of K-Oil through Societies, marketing of bio-degradeable carry bags, management of tourist outlets, heritage and tribal museums and libraries besides undertaking skill development and development works executed by different departments.

Dr. Shahid also asked managements of Societies to contribute and take on the challenge of making their Areas of Operation Polythene and Open Defecation Free for which substantial funding will be provided by the district administration. He asked Societies to come forward and supply non-biodegradable carry bags in the district. He particularly urged managements of Societies to undertake development works in their Areas of Operation.

The DDC also exhorted the managements of Cooperative Institutions to establish Cooperative Schools, Poultry Farms, General Stores, for which one-time adequate assistance will be provided by the district administration. One Cooperative Medical Fair Price shop will be established at District Hospital Rajouri and in all the Sub District Hospitals, the DDC announced.

For protection of properties of Societies, in addition to correction and updation of Revenue record, DDC Dr. Shahid instructed Deputy Registrar to submit proposal for fencing of all the immoveable assets of Cooperative Societies in the district.

Earlier, Deputy Registrar Cooperatives, Waqar Talib presented a detailed power point presentation on aims of National Cooperatives Week and issues and challenges hindering business enhancement and revival of Cooperative movement in the district.

Chairman CMS Ltd. Rajouri, Thakur Amar Singh Jamwal, Chairman CMS Ltd. Koteranka, Sain Khan, Chairman CMS Ltd. Manjakote, Shabir Pathan, President MPCS Ltd. Lamberi, Darbari Lal, Cooperator, Arun Kumar and AR Nowshera Rajinder Singh also spoke and suggested proposals for revival for Cooperative movement in Rajouri.
