Thousand attend slain TeM militant’s funeral prayers at Parimpora

Srinagar/Nov,18: Braving the restrictions imposed by District Magistrate Srinagar after the killing of a Tehreek ul Mujahideen militants thousands of people, including women and children, Saturday morning attended the funeral prayers of Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen (TeM) militant in Parimpora in the outskirts of Srinagar. The militant as already reported was Friday evening killed in a brief encounter with the government forces in Zakura area of Srinagar city.

Eye witness said amid pro-freedom slogans the slain militant, identified as Mugees Ahmad Mir of Parimpora was laid to rest. They said that from early morning thousands of people including women and children had assembled around Parimpora area to pariticipate in the funeral prayer. A spontaneous complete shutdown is being observed in Srinagar and its adjacent areas. District magistrate of Srinagar had imposed restrictions under Section 144 CrPc in Parimpora, Safa Kadal, MR Gunj, Nowhatta, Khanyar, Rainawari, Maisuma and Kralkhud areas.

Police Saturday morning arrested Yaseen Malik the Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik and put under house arrested Mirwaiz Molvi Umer Farooq the Hurriyat (M) Chairman Friday evening . A spokesman of JKLF said that Malik was arrested from his residence and shifted to central jail Srinagar.Mirwaiz, according to a spokesman of the outfit, was placed under house detention around 10 pm.

On Friday evening, Mugees Ahmad Mir from Parimpora was killed in a gunfight between the police and militants in the outskirts of Srinagar. Meanwhile, all educational institutions remained closed as a precautionary measure however all board and university examinations were held as per schedule today.
As reportedly already District Magistrate (DM), Srinagar, had Friday evening ordered closure of all educational institutions in the district as a “precautionary measure”.
