Kulgam: A search operation was launched by government forces in Kund Nowbug and other forest areas on Wednesday to nab the militants who had reportedly managed to escape from encounter site on Tuesday.
Sources said that gunshots were heard in Kund area while Forces managed to arrest an injured militant who has been identified as Aqib Iqbal Malik alias Talha Bhai a resident of Ringet Noorabad.
Aqib according to police sources had recently joined militant ranks and was probably injured in yesterday’s encounter.
Sources said that a large number of people hit to roads and protested against the arrest of the militant.
Sources added that militants fired upon government forces during search operation. “It was not clear how many militants are present in the area, however, search operation has been intensified,” said an official.
