64th All India Coop Week-2017 celebrations held at Ang

Ang: Cooperative Department Wednesday organized 64th All India Cooperative Week – 2017 Celebrations (from 14th November to 20thNovember, 2017) at Dak Bungalow Khannabal.

The program was attended by members of 55 Cooperative Societies of Anantnag and 36 of Kulgam.

The District Development Commissioner, Anantnag Mohammad Younus Malik was the Chief Guest on the occasion and M. Rehman Gassi Additional Registrar Cooperative Societies, Kashmir was the guest of honour.

The Deputy Registrar Cooperatives Bashir Ahmad Lone highlighted the achievements of the Cooperative department on the occasion and said 55 Cooperative Societies Registrar under Cooperative Societies Act 1989 are functioning in the district.

During 2016-2017 the societies in the district have registered a business turnover of Rs 1218.26 lacs which include Rs 398.59 lacs from fertilizers, Rs 267.89 lacs from consumer goods, Rs 175.58 lacs sale of Medicines, Rs 29.05 lacs from Poultry, Rs 43.57 lacs from Dairy, Rs 4.85 lacs from Sheep, Rs 111.36 lacs from consumer business. He appealed the members of the society to adopt modern innovations to make the societies more communicable and profitable.

The DDC, Anantnag on the occasion said cooperatives have played a vital role in the socio-economic development of the state. He assured every possible assistance would be provided to the cooperatives from district administration for its revival. He also directed for the establishment of shopping malls on large scale on cooperative land and construct sustainable assets for the department so that people in large can start their income generating units in the sector.
