Senior Superintendent of Police Ganderbal Syed Fayaz told reporters that a braid chopping incident was reported in Wakura area last month when a girl alleged that her braid was chopped off by two persons.
“We had registered an FIR vide number 14/2017 in this regard at police station Ganderbal and during investigation and identification parade two persons were nabbed. The accused confessed their crime,” he said and added that identification parade was conducted in presence of District Magistrate.
SSP Ganderbal said the accused hail from Khag area who had arrived in Wakura with the intention of breaking the house.
“They actually had gone to area for a burglary after taking advantage of Braid chopping as the people will move out of their homes and it will give them a safe passage to houses” SSP said adding that investigation has been set into motion and some more revelations may emerge.
