Srinagar/Nov,11: Srinagar district administration has banned the sale and purchase of crude boilers and other heating appliances “to avoid unnecessary load on transformers”.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Syed Abid Rasheed Shah has issued the order (DMS/Jud/Misc/1180-83/2017), invoking powers under section 144 of CrPc.
It said that the decision was taken during a review meeting with Power Development Department of district Srinagar.
“It was pointed out that during winters crude boilers, microme coils etc are used, due to which there is unnecessary electricity load on the transformers,” reads the order, a copy which lies with Greater Kashmir.
“In order to restrain such practices, I, District Magistrate, Srinagar hereby impose ban u/s 144 CrPC on sale / purchase / transportation of crude boilers, microme coils being used especially in winters in district Srinagar till further orders,” it adds.
As reported earlier by this newspaper, Jammu and Kashmir is heading towards worst power crisis in coming days as the local electricity generation in the state has declined by 70 percent.
Power Development Department is presently buying 500 MW power from the neighboring states to tide over the deficit. “However, this is not sufficient to meet the requirements on a daily basis”, reliable sources in the PDD informed.
