Srinagar: Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani Thursday asked the youth of Kashmir to face the fear instilled by NIA with bravery, persistence and commitment.
Speaking at a seminar on Iqbal Day, Geelani as per the statement issued here on Thursday said referring to NIA, said that authorities are using this agency to create fear psychosis among youth and added that they are being arrested on fabricated charges and asked youth to face NIA with bravery, persistence and commitment.
The seminar was organized by Tehreek-e-Hurriyat at its Hyderpora head office.
Others who participated in the day-long seminar included JKLF chief Mohammad Yasin Malik, senior Hurriyat leaders Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Haji Ghulam Nabi Sumji, other second rung Hurriyat leaders Mohammad Shafi Lone, Moulana Altaf Hussain Nadvi, Mohammad Salim Zargar, Syed Mohd Shafi, Hakim Ab Rashid, Molvi Bashir Ahmad Irfani, Mohd Yusuf Naqash, Feroz Ahmad Khan, Syed Altaf Andrabi and Advocate Davinder Sigh Behal.
In his presidential address, Geelani while paying tributes to “great poet and thinker” said that Iqbal as poet and philosopher awakened the Ummah and while describing his love and attachment with Muslim said that Iqbal as caring, benevolent and compassionate philosopher made us to understand and distinguish between right and wrong.
Quoting Iqbal, Geelani said that those deviated from righteous path have propounded theories leading us to astray and unfortunately Muslim community as a whole is following these stale and man-made theories.
Geelani while referring to atheists said that it is unfortunate that even in Muslim countries the ideology is being promoted and as such those following Islam feel insecure.
Geelani while referring to situations in Jammu and Kashmir said that “New Delhi is involved in mass massacre and added that State of Jammu and Kashmir was never a part of India”.
Commenting over the population percentage, Geelani said Muslim were 85 percent and all its borders were adjacent to Pakistan and India had no claims as per its specific identity and partition plan.
Geelani asked youth to follow holy Quran and make through study of Iqbal’s literary work as his poetry infuses inspiration and teaches brotherhood and self-realization and added his ideas are panacea for all the ills and rallying point for the development of a sense of unity and oneness.
In his speech, Malik while paying tributes to Dr Iqbal said he was a Muslim philosophical thinker of modern times and through his literary work he inspired a universal thought among Muslim Ummah.
However, it is very unfortunate that we are divided on sectarian lines, added Malik.
He said that our religious authorities instead of spreading the message of oneness, unification, solidarity, promoted their respective school of thought and hence we are divided and sub-dived in smaller groups and lost our identity as Muslim.
Referring to the prevailing horrendous situation in state and extreme brutalities inflicted by Indian authorities, Malik said that authorities want to break our resolve but we will never surrender or budge to the pressure tactics.
Every household and family presented laudable sacrifices and are facing immense hardships and miseries, Malik added.
“We have decided to carry this freedom struggle despite all their bullying and state terrorism, added Malik and laid stress on unity within resistance camp and people, saying that we are committed to make this unity more practicable and strong,” he said.
Sehrai in his address said that Dr Iqbal’s teachings inspire freedom spirits and added that while reading his literary work they find that Iqbal opted for resistance and described his concept of man hood as dynamic and his poetry as poetry of inspiration, brotherhood and self-realization. He asked authorities in Pakistan to make country a real Islamic and welfare state.
