Baramulla: District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash, Thursday chaired District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting to review the progress of banks during the second quarter of the fiscal year.
Officers of Line Departments, representatives of RBI, NABARD, and other concerned attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed the progress and achievements made by the banks in the implementation of various Government sponsored schemes.
The meeting was informed that district has achieved 48.06% of the targets set under District credit plan 2017-18 till Sept 2017. It was also informed that 40506 persons were benefited under District credits plan 2017-18 and an amount of Rs 1098.56 crore has been disbursed among them under various schemes including Rs 603.13 crore under agriculture sector, Rs 150.35 crore under small enterprise sector, Rs 5.93 crore in the service sector and Rs 339.15 crore in the non-priority sector.
The DDC asked the banks and financial institutions to play their role for the economic progress of the district and emphasized on promotion of national mission of cashless economy.
He impressed upon the officers to work in coordination to make the digital payment system a success in the district. He also stressed on organizing awareness programs at the village level to generate awareness about the use of cashless transactions among the people.
