Zulfkar hails Petro Company, asks others to follow suit

Rajouri: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs & Tribal Affairs Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali Wenesday gave away furniture, computers and other material worth Rs 35 lakh to 5 Government Schools of Darhal provided by Hindustan Petroleum Private Limited under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) .

The Minister also conducted extensive tour of his home constituency to reach out to the people and listen to the people’s issues by holding   series of public grievances redress camps.

The Minister was accompanied by a team of district and sectoral officers headed by deputy Commissioner, Dr Shahid Iqbal Chowdhary. Several problems and demands raised by the people were resolved by the Minister on the spot.

The material was provided to Government Higher Secondary School, Kandi, Government Higher Secondary School Kotranka, Government High School Mohra, Government Girls High School Budhal and Government Higher Secondary School Dhangri. The aid included 659 desks, 23 Computers, 23 Smart Boards, 6 Water Coolers, 1 Water Filter, 12 Filing cabinet, 45 chairs, 15 Library racks & Smart Podium.

Hailing the HPCL for aiding schools of the remote area, the Minister said is for the first time that a petroleum company launched such a big program in Darhal under CSR.

Zulfkar Ali informed that the aid for improving infrastructure in Government Schools of Darhal has been provided after he took up the matter with Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas Dharmendra Pardhan and the higher authorities of the petroleum company. He extended gratitude to Union Minister and HPCL for the generous support.

The Minister called upon other corporate houses to follow the suit adding that it is the responsibility of all public and private corporate sector houses to come forward and supplement the efforts of the government in serving the society.

He said the assistance in the form of computers and other material will help these schools to improve education standard and ensure   that the students do not suffer for the lack of modern teaching system. He added that more schools of the district would be provided assistance in the same manner in near future.

On the occasion, the Minister also announced to provide IPads to   the students of of Darhal constituency out of his CDF who have secured    75% above marks in the Board exa

Director FCS & CA Mohammad Azam Inqalabi, Senior Superintendent of Police Yougal Manhas, Secretary Gujjar & Bakerwal Advisory Board Mukhtar Ahmed, Deputy Director Tribal Affairs Suman Bala, Deputy General Manager Retail, HPCL Krishan Lal and district Officers of Rajouri   accompanied the Minister.

Meanwhile, the Minister held series of public grievance redress camps in Rajouri and Kotranka areas and listened to the issues of people.

The local people highlighted issues related to power sector, PHE, roads, health and education. The Minister issued strict instructions to concerned departments for redressing all their issues on priority.

The locals also projected the problem of shortage of staff in Sub Centre Kandra, demanded power transformer for Dhandote, new Sub Centre at Khari Galli, water supply scheme for Gotu, upgrading of Schools in Larkoti, blacktopping of Larkoti road, construction of Draman Menthal bridge, installation of 2 transformers at Draman, posting of adequate staff in Larkuti schools, installation of transformer at Jori Kewal, provision of power supply to Khawas, Bainambal, Gadyog, Kanthol from PDD Feeder Khawas instead of   Kotranka Feeder.

Responding to the demands, the Minister directed the concerned departments to meet their demands in shortest possible time.

During the tour, the Minister also laid foundation stone of various developmental projects in Dharal constituency.

Zulfkar Ali said government is committed to develop rural belts and it has completed many projects and more are underway to   benefit the people. He said it is for the first time that Darhal constituency has received more than Rs 850 crore funds in two years for various developmental projects. He added that more projects for the area are in pipeline.
