Kathua: Reiterating Government`s commitment to develop areas having tourist potential, Dy CM, Dr Nirmal Singh Saturday said Billawar has glorious history of religious and economic activities. He maintained that the natural beauty of Billawar makes it unique place to visit with sprawling landscapes and religious shrines. “The place can be further revamped as heritage town to attract tourists to this area” he added.

Dr Singh was interacting with the locals after paying obeisance at Ringri Mata temple inside historical Garhi Fort at Thara Kalyal on the occasion of annual congregation of Sumbria Rajput community.

The community members from Punjab, Himachal, Haryana and surrounding areas   thronged in large numbers to get blessings of the community deity.

Highlighting several initiatives launched to restore the pristine glory of Billawar town, DyCM said Rs 32 Lakh from his CDF has been sanctioned for the construction of boundary wall along the Garhi Fort for its conservation. He directed the ADC to immediately start the demarcation work. He also said road connectivity to religious places will also get a fillip to increase the tourist inflow and give   impetus to the economic activities in the area.

Dy CM further said preserving historical monuments and bringing them on tourist circuit provide a great attraction to devotee tourists and heritage lovers.

“The  end beneficiary in the  religious   tourism is always local population but they have to work in tandem with the government with a vision where emphasis is laid on infrastructure, awareness, education and training” he added.

Later, the Dy CM also paid obeisance at the annual congregation of Upadhaya community near Thara Kalyal where people from nearby villages also thank him for sanctioning Rs 12 Lakh from out of his CDF for road connectivity and improving PDD infra.
