Sopore: The two day national symposium on Frontiers In Chemical Science (FICS)- 2017 organised by the Department of Chemistry in collaboration with IQAC, Government Degree College Sopore, kick started on Saturday in college auditorium.
The chief guest on the occasion was the Vice Chancellor of the Cluster University Prof. Shiekh Javid Ahmad and Guest of honour Dr. G.M. Peerzada from Kashmir University. The function was attended by various college principles and professors of different colleges.
“This is first event of it’s nature in entire north Kashmir organised by Govt Degree college Sopore. It is for the young researchers, scientists and scholars to present their observations and other things”, said Dr Mushtaq Ahmed Dar, principal Govt Degree College Sopore.
The two day long symposium will have talks of renowned scientists besides 27 oral and 57 practical presentations by scientists and scholars from across the country.
“Many renowned scientists participated in this symposium so as a student of science we can know about the recent advances and new happenings in the works of science”, said Mohd Hussain research scholar from Sant Baba Bhagh Singh University Punjab.
Large number of students, scholars and researchers from various private and government institutes participated in the science event.
“It is mandatory by University Grants Commission for every research scholar to participate in such conferences, besides it provides us a chance to interact with fellow scholars”, said another participant Aiman Bashir from University of Kashmir.
