Srinagar/Nov,3:Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday said they won’t allow opening of a liquor shop at Srinagar airport as it “violates the provisions of J&K excise Act, 1958 and liquor License and Sales Rules, 1984.”
An order, bearing number EC/Exc/Misc/JKEL-2 /4549, dated 03-11-2017, issued to Director, AAI, Srinagar issued by Excise commissioner, Javed Khan read: “In continuation to this office letter No. EC/Exc/1249 dated 13-10-2017 where under you have been intimated that the J&K excise Department shall not grant Liquor license for opening of liquor shop/ vend at Srinagar International airport in violation of to the provisions of J&K excise Act, 1958 and liquor License and Sales Rules, 1984.”
“It is further intimated that opening of liquor vend/ shop at the international airport Srinagar will not be allowed/ permitted as such you may stop the process of any such proposal, as the Excise Department will not grant license required for opening of liquor vend/shop at the international airport.”
The order was issued in view of news reports that a liquor shop would be opened at the Srinagar airport.
