Bandipora: Police sealed an Educational Institute and arrested its operators in North Kashmir after it failed to provide roll number slips to Class 10th students who were scheduled to appear in examination conducted by Board of School Education on Thursday.
Reports said that at least 60 students from Noorani Secondary Educational Institute Sumbal in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district arrived at the school to appear in Class 10th examination on Thursday. The exam was scheduled to be conducted at 1pm, however, school management failed to provide them roll number slips.
The agitated students and parents staged a massive protest after they found the owner and the staff of the school missing. They staged a massive protest and blocked Srinagar-Bandipora road. Due to protest demonstration, traffic was disrupted for hours, prompting police to rush to the spot.
The police team led by SDPO Sumbal Sheikh Tahir pacified the students and parents and assured them of swift action against the school management. “We sealed the school and arrested the Chairman and his wife while the Principal is still at large. A case has been registered against them for cheating the students,” he said.
Minister for Education, Syed Altaf Bukhari here on Thursday directed SP Bandipora to file a formal case against the school owner for playing with the career of students. “I in fact has recommended police to book the accused under Public Safety Act,” Bukhari said and added that the victim students will be allowed to appear in the examination that will be conducted separately by BOSE for them.
SSP Bandipora, Shiekh Zulifkar said that school authorities failed to provide roll number slips to students as it was not a recognized one. “We assure students that their examination will be conducted separately and they need not to worry,” he said and confirmed the sealing of school and arrest of its owner and his wife.
