Srinagar: A documentary ‘Kashmir Cricket Pakistan’ was released on Thursday, 2nd October by a director Shafkat Raina in collaboration with JK Youth Civil Society at Lala Rukh Hotel. This film highlights the pain of Kashmiri’s particularly youth who support Pakistan during cricket matches. Director Shafkat Raina, said, “This documentary was to show the world that the youth of Kashmir support Pakistan in cricket. They have a sentimental relation with Pakistan. This movie is dedicated to those talented cricketers who were killed by Indian forces and also to the students who were arrested by the police on sedition charges last year for supporting Pakistan in outside state. This movie was made to show the world that people of Kashmir have a natural bond with Pakistan.”
This documentary moreover shows the human rights violation in Kashmir. Three Ranji cricket players were killed by the Indian forces in Kashmir, which is also portrayed in this movie.
Shafkat Raina said the intolerance by India has pushed the youth of valley towards Pakistan. Further he said that there is a deep resentment against the Indian atrocities in Kashmir especially among the youth. He said that we have visited in all the districts of valley and from the sentiments of youth it seems that India is sitting on a time bomb in Kashmir which could explode anytime. He also said that there is an immediate need to resolve the Kashmir issue on priority basis so that further precious lives could be saved from extinction.Further he added that we did not create any public event for the release of this movie because my main aim was to somehow release this movie without any hurdles and hiccups.
Chief Guest at this event was a pellet victim Danish Rajab Jhat and Zakir Hussain, son of a martyred militant from Bijbhera. Other guests include Babar Qadri, Inam-ul-Haq, and among others.
Bilal Bhat, chairman JK Youth Civil Society (JKYCS) said the idea of making such people as chief guest is to make them feel honoured in our society. “It took four years to complete this film due to hurdles we faced. But we still managed to organise it taking this as a challenge. It is research based documentary which touches politics, history and human rights,” he said.
