Srinagar: President “Jammu & Kashmir Bachao Tehreek” and former Minister Ab Gani Vakil has said that though appointment of a new interlocutor Dineshwar Sharma for dialogue in Jammu & Kashmir was a welcome step but backtrack on promise of Home Minister Rajnath Singh on talks without pre-conditions has shown that Narendra Modi led BJP government is on the track which the previous Congress led governments used for dealing with the crisis in Jammu & Kashmir state.
Addressing a party convention of “Jammu & Kashmir Bachao Tehreek”
Vakil said that with newly appointed interlocutor ruling out any talks outside Indian constitution the chapter of talks with the separatists has been closed. Saying that talks without pre-conditions and
resumption of dialogue with Pakistan are pre-requisites for resolving Kashmir Vakil said ” Prime Minister and Home Minister talked to mainstream but nothing emerged. Previous Congress governments also talked to mainstream political parties but the ground situation did not change. So there is no point to hold talks with mainstream without engagement with the separatists and Government of Pakistan”. He called upon the central government to fulfill its promise of holding unconditional talks with the separatists and resuming the composite dialogue process with the Government of Pakistan
Hitting out at Mehbooba Mufti led PDP_BJP coalition government for failures on various front Vakil exressed his surprise over the way some ministers of the incumbent government have inducted their close affiliations and family friends on senior positions like directors through backdoors and posted some of the serving non cadre junior officers on key positions in the government. He castigated government for allowing a close affiliation of top leader to hold two key positions simultaneously. He alleged that Jammu & Kashmir government is virtually run by few political families and their friends. He warned that his “Jammu & Kashmir Bachao Tehreek” will kick start a full fledged public agitation against the government if government does not revoke the orders of the backdoor appointees and fills the vacant key positions by posting senior cadre officers on all such posts additional charge of which is held by some blue eyed officials.
