Srinagar: Taking a jibe at the Centre over reports that Khichdi is being designated as India’s national food, former Chief minister Omar Abdullah asked if it is anti-national not to like the dish. Meanwhile, in an apparent referral to standing for the National Anthem being played in cinema halls before every movie, he asked if people have to stand every time they see it being eaten.
“Do we have to stand every time we see it being eaten? Is it compulsory to eat before a movie? Is it anti-national to not like the stuff?” Mr Abdullah, who is the working president of national Conference (NC), wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
Mr Abdullah was reacting to reports that Ministry of Food Processing had put forth Khichdi as representative of Indian cuisine, which was approved by the Centre.
