Poonch: Deputy Commissioner, Poonch Tariq Ahmad Zargar Wednesday visited at fish farm Poonch to get first hand appraisal of its working .
Assistant Director Fisheries B.A Chowhan apprised the DC that fish farm Poonch is expanded on 33 kanal out of which water spread area is 8 Kanal.
It was further informed that fish seed of common crop is being produced and distributed among interested farmers not only to boost fish production in the district but for income generation viz -viz creation of employment opportunities to the unemployed youth as well.
AD fisheries also briefed DDC about crop fish pound and trout rearing units being constructed under various scheme in the district.He further informed that 60 number of crop fish pound and 14 no of trout rearing units were established so for to provide quality of fish besides promotion of economic activity.
DC directed the AD to expand the fisheries units in rural areas like Mandi Bufliaz where there is larger scope of production.
