Srinagar: Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two youth while they were trying to cross the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Four overground workers of the militants were also arrested on their disclosure, said a spokesman.
“District Police Kupwara has arrested two youth from Manigah Hyhama area near LoC along with four over ground workers (OGWs) who were facilitating their ex-filtration from LoC,” he said.
While briefing the media persons, SSP Kupwara Shamsheer Hussain, according to the spokesman, said that based on specific information police party of SOG Kupwara had laid cordon and search operation in Manigah Hyhama area.
“During search of the area, two youth were found moving suspiciously and were nabbed.
“They identified themselves as Danish Ghulam Lone S/o Ghulam Mohd Lone R/o Brah Badna Pulwama, age about 20yrs and Suhail Ahmad Bhat S/o Ghulam Mohi u din Bhat R/o Dogripora Pulwama, age about 21yrs.”
Some incriminating documents including the map of areas adjoining to LoC and some posters of HM outfit were also recovered from the possession of the arrested youth, he said.
“During preliminary interrogation, they disclosed that they were motivated by one active HM militant namely Adnan operating in Pulwama/Awantipora area for joining the militant ranks and ex-filtration to PaK for obtaining arms training.”
The local OGWs have facilitated their journey from Srinagar to Kupwara and further to Manigah area on way to LoC.
“On the disclosure of both the youth, 04 over ground workers (OGWs) namely Doulat Ali Mughal, Liyaqat Ali Khan, Ghulam Nabi Mughal residents of Manigah Kupwara and Haroon Ahmad Sheikh R/o Amrohie Karnah were also arrested.”
“Case FIR No. 279/2017 u/s 13,18,18-B Prevention of Unlawful activities act and 120-B RPC stands registered in P/S Kupwara and further investigation in progress,” said the spokesman.
