DDC Srinagar reviews arrangements for Guru Purab

Srinagar:  District Development Commissioner Srinagar, Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Saturday convened a meeting to review the arrangements for forthcoming Guru Purab celebrated on the birthday of Guru Nanak Dev Ji on November 4.

The meeting was attended by SP Srinagar, SE PWD (R&B), and senior officers from SMC, Traffic Police Srinagar, SRTC, PHE Srinagar, Health Department, FCS&CA, and by representatives of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Srinagar led by its president Budha Singh.

The DDC directed for ensuring uninterrupted power supply between November 2 and 4 to the Chatti Padshahi Gurudwara at Rainawari which sees the largest gathering of Sikh devotees on the occasion. He also directed the concerned departments to provide two quintals of sugar and one quintal of flour and two water tankers to the Gurudwara.

He also instructed for providing extra lights for and repairing of main street lights at Chatti Padshahi.

The meeting was informed that comprehensive security and traffic plans have been formulated for hassle-free gathering and smooth celebrations on the occasions, particularly, at Chatti Padshahi. It was said there will be a one-way traffic on the route to the gurudwara and dedicated parking space around it.

The DDC also directed for providing dedicated ambulances with paramedic staff as well as a medical camp with a doctor at Chatti Padshshi gurudwara. He also said a dedicated waste dumper and a mobile toilet unit will be provided to the gurudwara to cater to the large gathering of devotes expected here on the occasion.

He also directed the SRTC authorities to provide four dedicated buses for devotees to facilitate their obeisance at different Gurduwaras.

The meeting was also informed that control room with helpline numbers 01942452182 and 9419042342 has been set up at DC Office Srinagar for the occasion.

The DDC along with a team of officers will also be visiting the Chati Padshahi on October 30 to take stock of arrangements put in place there.
