Zulfkar reviews functioning of FCS&CA, LMD, Info Deptt in Kargil

Kargil: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) and Information Department Chowdhary Zulfikar Ali reviewed the functioning of FCS&CA, Legal Metrology Department, Information and Public Relations in a meeting here at a Conference Hall in Baroo.

Chairman Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali, Chief Executive Councillor Kargil Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan, Executive Councillor FCS & CA Tenzin Sonam, Executive Councillor Education and Power Advocate Muhammad Amir, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Haji Gulzar Hussain, Director FCS & CA Nissar Ahmad Wani besides officers of the administration were present in the meeting.

The Minister was apprised with the stock situation in the district. He was informed that adequate stock of essentials including rice, wheat and key construction material has been dumped in various stores for the forthcoming winter season.

The meeting was informed that against the total requirement of 71000 quintals of rice 60000 quintals have been stored on various locations while as against the total requirement of 36000 quintals full quantity of flour has already been dumped in the district. It was also revealed that sufficient LPG gas, Kerosene oil stock has also been ensured. The meeting further informed that around 90% of essential commodities and other key materials have been dumped in the district for coming winter.

Responding to the demand projected for provision of sugar quota to the district, the Minister assured that requisite steps in this regard would be taken soon.

Meanwhile the Minister announced opening up of a full-size FCS& CA store at Kargil with a capacity of 5000 metric ton storage. He said the store once opened shall cater to the ration requirements of people in the district throughout the year. The concerned were also directed for regularization of 149 internal adjustment stores in the district.

The Minister hailed the efforts of the officers of the department for ensuring 100% ration distribution in the district.

Responding to the demand for inclusion of 6000 identified souls under PHH, the Minister announced to include 2000 souls under PHH and said possibilities shall be explored to include yet another 3000 souls under this category.

The Minister also directed the oil companies to dump oil for winter stocking in next three days.  Underlining the need for rationalization in the provision of gas connections to consumers the Minister directed the oil companies to furnish details of single and multiple connections and also directed the DC Kargil to verify connection details and ensure that every household gets due share in the provision of gas connection.

He also directed the officers of Forest Department to ensure the dumping of firewood within a week’s time.

During the visit of the district, the Minister also inspected the Food Corporation of India godown at Kurbathang, along with several ration stores.

Several public delegations met the Minister and apprised him about their issues and grievances. The Minister assured the delegations that all their genuine demands would be considered on priority and steps for fulfillment would be taken in due course of time.
