Srinagar: Contract agreement was signed between CEO Jhelum Tawi Flood Recovery Project, Saurabh Bhagat and MD JKPCC Daleep Thussu for construction of two trussed girder bridges under the World Bank aided Rs 55.75 crore project.

The two bridges are to be constructed by JKPCC in Shopian and Pulwama districts. The 6×50 meter bridge at Trenz will be constructed over Ranbir Ara Nalla and will connect Trenz Sheikhpora with Arihal Shopian costing Rs 34.5 crore. Another 3×50 meter bridge on Rohmu Nalla will connect Rohmu Pakherpora with main Pulwama costing Rs 21.25 crore.

The signing ceremony was attended, among others, by Director Finance JTFRP, Mohammed Yusuf Pandit, Director Disaster Management, Aamir Ali, General Manager JKPCC, Executive Engineer Munibul Hassan Mirza, AEE Sajad Ahmed Wani and other officers from JTFRP and JKPCC

Speaking on the occasion, Bhagat said 8 bridges, 6 roads and 3 buildings costing Rs 225 Crore will be executed through JKPCC. He said signing of the agreement was the first step towards execution of the World Bank Project in the State. The CEO said after completion, the projects will give major fillip to the reconstruction program in the State. The Project Management Unit (PMU) has been invigorated and a major selection process has been initiated for equipping PMU with high end consultancy and departmental staff, he said.

The CEO appreciated the hard work of the Technical wing of the JTFRP which culminated in the signing of the agreement with JKPCC. Stating that since the agreement was a template approved at the highest level, therefore other agreements would be signed expeditiously, which shall mark the immediate booking of expenditure.

“International standards of quality and environment norms shall be followed during the execution of these projects and the Environmental and Social Management plans of these projects have been hosted on the Project website of JTFRP,” Bhagat said.
