Shehr-i-Khaas students second to none: Altaf Bukhari

Srinagar: Impressed by various performances carried out by students at Girls Higher Secondary School Nawa Kadal, Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari Monday said the students of Shehr-i-Khaas are second to none when it comes to showcasing their talent.

The Minister said this while addressing Annual Day function of Girls Higher Secondary School Nawa Kadal which was attended by Secretary School Education, Farooq Ahmad Shah, DC Srinagar, Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Director School Education Kashmir, Dr G.N Itoo, CEO Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Principals from various colleges and other concerned officials of Education Department.

On the occasion, several cultural items, skits and programs highlighting social issues, were performed by various groups of girl students which were appreciated by the Minister and audience as well.

Addressing the audience, Bukhari said girls of Kashmir are confident and are doing well in every field. Through these annual days, he said the students get a platform to showcase their talent. He said under the leadership of Mehbooba Mufti, the Government is dedicated for the upliftment of girls in J&K.

Bukhari appreciated the contribution of Nawa Kadal Girls HSS in the deliverance of education to girl students in Kashmir. He said the school has shown almost cent percent result last year which is the huge success despite being in the area which is more prone to untoward incidents.

On the demand of the students and the school faculty, the Minister announced that an auditorium will be developed in the heritage building while taking care of its heritage value.

On the occasion Secretary School Education assured to the Principal Nawa Kadal GHSS that all genuine demands of the higher secondary would be addressed on priority.

Later, the mementoes and certificates were distributed among the students who fared well in academics and various extra-curricular activities.
