Initiate measures for construction of water reservoir at Sochli Pathri: MLA Khansahib to PHE officers

Srinagar:  MLA Khansahib, Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen Friday asked the concerned engineers of the PHE department to initiate measures for construction of the proposed Rs 27 crore Water Reservoir at Sochli Pathri in Khansahib.

He said the work on project needs to be started at an immediate as it envisages providing dependable drinking water supply to about 75000 population comprising 61 villages. He said DPR for the proposed water supply scheme stands already prepared.

Speaking at a meeting of the senior engineers of the PHE department, convened here, he pressed for devising short term and long term measures for augmenting drinking water facilities in various areas of District Budgam particularly in Khansahib constituency.

Hakeem Yasin urged the need for execution of the 11nd Phase of Sukhnag water supply scheme so that all the 25 left over villages are also covered under this scheme.

Chief Engineer PHE, Kashmir, Shiekh Wahid, S.E Mechanical North, Er. Shiekh Abdul Rashid, Executive Engineer PHE, Division, Budgam, Ghulam Ahmad Baigh, concerned AEEs and J.Es were present in the meeting.

Hakeem Yaseen said population explosion and  expansion of the habitations have increased  the demand of water supply manifolds adding that the PHE department should also gear up its men and machinery to come up to the expectations of the people.

He also impressed upon the department to provide adequate drinking water facilities to the inhabitants of Waagar, Jawalapora, Shogapora Daantar, Woturpora, Gund Arjun, Hari wanina, Patwaaw  , Bukam Naar, Gaffar Abad, Parnewa, Waagar,Hardweil  and asked the concerned Executive engineer to issue tenders for Water supply scheme Tratoo  within a month.
