Gurezi for early tendering of Bandipora-Gurez Transmission line

Srinagar:  The Deputy Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Nazir Ahmad Gurezi Friday asked the Power Development Department (PDD) to immediately issue tenders for Bandipora-Gurez transmission line and start construction work on the project so that it is completed within stipulated time frame.

The instruction was given by the Deputy Speaker in a meeting of officers of PDD and Power Development Corporation (PDC) convened to review the status of work on various power projects and Bandipora-Gurez transmission line.

Detailed discussions were held on dumping of Diesel in Gurez area for winter. It was decided that 66 tankers of Diesel are to be dumped in Gurez within shortest period for use of power generators in Gurez area. It was also informed in the meeting that an amount of Rs 2 crore has been released by the Government for the purpose.

It was further informed in the meeting that an amount of Rs 10 lakh has been released for purchase of Generator for village Abdullain in Tulail area.

The Deputy Speaker asked the concerned authorities to take up the construction work of 7MV Achoora Power Project at the earliest as the Detailed Project Report (DPR) have already been approved for it.

Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Speaker stressed for exploration of Wind Power in the Tehsil Gurez as the area has a huge scope of hydro power. He said the area is suffering a lot due to shortage of power supply and hoped that due to completion of transmission line from Bandipora to Gurez and other proposed power projects the scarcity of power supply will be minimized. He directed the PDD and other concerned authorities to work with utmost dedication and also asked them to work in tandem and complete the all ongoing projects in a time bound manner.

The meeting was attended by Power Development Commissioner, Asgar Ali, Chief Engineer, PDD Shahnaz Goni,   Director Finance, PDD, Superintendent Engineer M&RE Bandipora besides other Senior Officers of the concerned departments.
