Srinagar: In the ongoing State Football League-2017, three matches of Super and Premier Division leagues were played at Synthetic Turf TRC here on Monday this week.
In the first Super-Division match played at Synthetic Turf TRC, State Football Academy (SFA) Junior beat Jehelum SPorts by two goals to one in a closely contested encounter. While forward lines of both the teams attacked each others goal post from the start of the play, finally it was Jehelum Sports who took the lead in 42nd minute of the match through Arman. The first half ended with Jehelum Sports in ascendancy.
However, as the second half commenced, the SFA Juion players were determined to score an equaliser and they successeded in 49th minute of the play when Muneer managed to net one into the goal post of Jehelum Sports. Just 11 minutes later, SFA Junior scored the second goal through Uzair. After wards both the teams tried their best to score, but failed and when the referee blew the final whistle the scoreline read 2-1 in favour of SFA Junior.
In the Premier-Division match, also played at Synthetic Turf TRC, J&K Police played a goal less draw with State Football Academy (SFA). The high voltage encounter of the day, couldn’t live up to the expectations as both the teams failed to score despite getting several chances. However, the large number of spectators at the venue were mesmerised by the quality shown by the defence lines of both the teams , who denied every scoring opportunity to the forward lines. Owais from SFA was declared player of the match for his performance.
The second Super-Division match of the day, also played at Synthetic Turf TRC, between J&K State Power Development Corporation (J&KSPDC) and Food and Supplies XI (F&S XI) also ended in a goal less draw. Both the teams made several moves to score, but failed to convert the oppurtunities into goals at the last moment. Hayat Ahmad of J&KSPDC XI was decalared as player of the match for his perfromance.
More than 500 football teams and clubs with over 12000 players and over 1500 team officials are participating in State Football League-2015, a mega event, first of its kind in the history of J&K football. The aim of holding such a mega event is to unearth the hidden talent across the state.
While B-Division League of State Football League is already completed with IFC Nowgam winning the title, the A-Division League has reached to the final stage with Fort View FC and Novelty FC qualifying for final. In Super and Premier Division leagues, more than 50 percent matches have been completed. More than 500 football teams and clubs with over 12000 players and over 1500 team officials are participating in the mega event, the aim of which is to unearth the hidden talent across the State.
