Sopore: Shah Rasool Memorial Welkin Educational Trust (SRM), Sopore, celebrated Grandparents Day today. The programme began with the Islamic song, followed by various dance performances and songs by little students of the junior section.
The students showcased there talent and they showed variety of traditional Kashmiri cultural events, Islamic songs, group songs, skit, thematic dance performance etc during the program which was appreciated by the audience.
A game were played and the grandparents competed with each other. A memento of appreciation was given to each grandparent who participated in the game. The day was celebrated to make the grandparents of the children feel important.
On the occasion, Secretary Education, Farooq Ahmed Shah was the Chief Guest and He congratulated the administration of SRM for giving Sopore this ‘landmark institution’. He congratulated the chairman and the management of the school for organizing such a wonderful programme.
“Teachers are nation builders, they influence students by their love and affection,” the Chief Guest remarked.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof M A Charoo, former chairman Board of School Education, Highlight the significance of elders in the Kashmiri family system. He underlined the need to educate young generation on family values and to uphold our rich culture and
heritage.
On the occasion Director School Education Dr Yatoo, Director Bose Farooq Ahmed, Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Farooq Ahmed Baba, SSP Sopore Harmeet Singh, President Private School Association G. M War, Secretary Private School Association Mohammad Yousuf, Director North Campus Irshad Ahmed, Professor Charoo, were present on the occasion.
